Melissa was born and raised in the Edmonton Area. She is member of the Swan River First Nation and has strong roots to her traditional home of Kinuso, Ab. A common business goal throughout her life has been the focus on formulating the tools for communities to better their waste diversion policies and recycling processes in hopes to gain more self-sustainable energy solutions.  FIND Biomass is a result of this passion.

In 2015, FIND Biomass was incorporated with the goal to contribute to Indigenous and Metis communities to strengthen and develop sustainable infrastructure while utilizing green technology. Melissa is proud of FIND Biomass’ direction with the fast-growing trees and the opportunities they bring to the company and Indigenous Communities.   



Red Deer College

Graduated from Red Deer College with her Business Management Diploma with a major in Marketing.

Received a Certified Class III landfill Operator Certificate.


Incorporated her first business when she was 19, Meldawn Enterprises, which offered scrap tire collection services to landfills and scrap tire generators across Alberta, this was one of the first companies to offer this service to the rural areas of Alberta.

Melissa managed a wood recycling facility for 7 years. The company recycled waste wood that had been diverted from landfills into biomass used in a power plant in Dapp Alberta.

For 6 years, she was the General Manager of Cutting Edge Tire Recycling which core business was recycling the largest tires in the world. She was responsible for the day-to-day operations, corporate and government contract negotiations, and customer service.
